“When
Shadow Falls”
Based
on the short story, When Shadow Falls, the two main characters that are
interested in this short story are Mankind and Lars the Ranger. The relationships
between the two characters are relationship between leader and subordinate.
Mankind is the Grand President of the Confederated Systems and Lars the Ranger
is the General of Armies and Admiral of Fleets. They are a good leader and
subordinate. They were doing their work as good as they can. Besides that, they
also best friend. They trust each other and at the same time they are also
helping between them.
“When Shadow Falls” show us about the
cooperation between people. From this story, we can learn that cooperation is
very important for each situation or decision that will be making. The
cooperation between Greto, Lars, Mankind and Smit to save the Earth are proved
of cooperation is important. Besides that, tolerance also one of moral value
that have in this short story. Mankind as a leader accepts the opinion given by
his subordinate although
he can make the decision by his on. Believable is one of the moral values from
this short story. Mankind believe all the action that Lars take to save their planet
while other people think that his action degrading their planet by sing song an
old ballads and tell the hero tales of Earth. Mankind also believes that all
his subordinates will did their best to save their planets. Lars used story
method to gain assistance from other planet but Smit want to used violent
method which is will course more worth than good condition in other planet. At
the same times, it will affect the Earth. So, for the conclusion we must
confident with our self and respect with other people. We also must find a good
way to solve a problem that we face. So that, other people willing to help us
went we get into a trouble.
